Pontoon at Morar

This is one of many seascapes inspired by visits to Scotland’s West Coast. Here, I was attracted by the sunlight glancing off the surface of the water, the distant mountains and the rickety old pontoon on Loch Morar with the waves gently lapping at the water’s edge.

This painting is framed with a simple grey float frame (see additional images). The narrow gap between the frame and the inner edge of the artwork panel creates a shadow and gives the illusion that the artwork is ‘floating’ within the frame. This enhances the overall effect, creating a sense of depth and drawing the viewer’s eye to the artwork.
